There are two person’s opinion about the discussion board questions. i have to reply them separately. just give your opinion based on their post. example: reply for person 1 (sudip) post…… reply for person 2 (roshan) post…. Person 1 Post: Sudip Topic: Forming the agile teams The article “WHAT IS AN AGILE TEAM AND HOW DO YOU FORM THEM?” by Mike Cottmeyer suggested that an agile team is just not a random group of people working together on a project. It is a cross-functional group of people that have everything and everyone who define, build, test, and deliver an increment of value in a short time box. The agile team once formed a team is suggested to be held together without moving across the projects so the productivity is higher. In other words, the end result is better when they’re on one project full-time and not spread across multiple projects simultaneously. An Agile team needs everyone required to produce the end product or service. Therefore, the team is typically cross-functional, and team roles will vary depending on the needs of the project and the type of Agile framework that is chosen. Once the team is ready, it is important to allow the team some time to mature. It is imperative to understand the team is like an individual. To its growth, the agile team goes through four phases as it develops and they are; Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing (Durmond, C. 2020). After a team reaches the performing stage, development truly becomes mature. Members trust each other, understand one another’s strengths, and use that understanding to optimize how they build software (Leffingwell, D. 2020). At this stage business capabilities are tested. The article suggests that once the team is aware of its business capabilities it can be aligned with the technical and organizational architecture so-called a complete cross-functional group. Furthermore, identifying the dependencies on time and working towards fixing those ultimately helps product delivery in a timely fashion. According to web Prince2.com, dependencies are inevitable in any project. i.e. tasks that require input from other tasks to be completed, or activities that can’t start until a previous activity is done. There are often several sequences to a task, and they’re all dependent on each other. The author of the article mentioned dependencies as evil and only a pure agile team can break through it. He further suggests that until and unless those dependencies are broken, we will never be able to get the value that we are working towards. Simply understanding the dependencies, an online source, Prince2.com categorized as a logical, preference, and resource-based:
Apart from the agile team success, there are few potential disadvantages that the agile team often falls into. Firstly, when the agile team is newly formed and still in the process of maturity, developers cannot quantify the full extent of the required efforts. That often results in frustration due to poor practice and poor decisions. Secondly, However, continuous communication is an important part of agile team success, Face to face communication, interaction with customers and developers are onerous and time-consuming. It takes more time and energy for everyone involved. Lastly, agile team members usually have short notice before the project starts. In such a case when a new member joins the team, they do not know the details about a certain feature or how they need to perform. This creates misunderstandings and difficulties. In the nutshell, the agile team is one of the most important parts of the organization. Which is just not a random group brainstorming about a project but a cross-functional team. However, it is imperative that the team takes time to grow so it can function better with fewer errors. Although dependencies are inevitable, a pure agile team is able to cut through delivering the project in a timely fashion as possible. Sources: Leffingwell, D. (2020, July 26). Agile Teams. Kretzberg, A. and Laartz, J., 2018). Team is the combination of employees works to achieve common objectives. Top management plays a significant role in making team and helping to create an environment to where the teams move forward and achieve the targets of the projects successfully. It is also recommended that top management may adopt the practices which encourages the creative thoughts and help team to catch up the speed of the drastically changing digital world. In order to move forward it is important to provide the training and sufficient resources to the team so that they may equipped with all the resources. It is also advisable to provide feedback to determine the weak areas and way forward to achieve targets. The overall idea of team management and team development for achieving objectives seems easy but it is extremely challenging to align efforts in the synchronous directions for corporate objectives. In order to discuss the effectives of small teams, following important measures are discussed:. It is advised to empower the executives and focus on small teams by providing clear objectives, tools to achieve targets, celebrate the success of milestones and best performers and give chance to small teams to work directly with client to learn and understand from the customers’ requirements. It is also advisable to design the independent teams in a way that help to do work in less dependency and have sufficient resources to complete work. There is also need to develop as enabler manager which work on providing solutions and work as coach instead of acting as Superior and Boss. Authors has shared the concept of know your customers where the formal approval is not needed to process the work, which saves the lot of time and can be competitive strength and simultaneously there are satisfied clients with achieving actions parts done in a less time. The executive gives the autonomy of decision making up to certain limits to take decision and speed up the process. In order to address performance issues, it is also important to provide frequent feedback and hold accountable for the actions. In order to help team members, agile project managers communicate the objectives with clarity and help team to draw their own pathways and help in every milestone. Agile is incremental and iterative approach of way of doing work as opposed to conventional method which is plan driven method. Agile is flexible enough to address the competitive business changes and adaptable to accept new changes based on client’s requirements. Agile works in self-organized team and effective enough to address the changes. Still nature of the project helps in deciding the selection of methodology, because there are scenarios where the scope is clear and every step is clear to work on – in that scenario may conventional methods work in a better way. There are also disadvantages of Agile Methodology which includes, it is challenging to maintain the collaboration for especially long-term projects and will have probability to off track the project which may eventually needs more time and resources to come back on track. There is lack of necessary documentation which sometimes create ambiguity and confusion. The transition process for the Bosch Automotive is one of the notable management interventions where they successfully transformed the process to agile by creating small teams working side by side with other conventional methods following teams. After that, they analyze and compare the results of traditional way of doing business which is on most interest of the organization and top management was successful enough to facilitate the process of transition to make Bosch following Agile methodologies. The Agile methods increases the transparency, communication, risk management, satisfaction, and team empowerment Diebold, P. (2017) Reference: Bossert, O. Kretzberg, A. and Laartz, J. (2018).
