Change Management Proposal

Change Management Proposal
Since the health care environment is constantly changing and transforming, the ability to manage and adapt to change is essential in health care organizations. Change, whether prompted internally or externally or perceived positively or negatively, can be unsettling, making it crucial that health care administrators understand the change process. From implementation planning to effectively communicating with employees and managing conflicts, administrators must be prepared to manage change within their organizations. For this Assignment, you examine an organization undergoing change and develop a change management proposal.
To prepare for this Assignment:
Review this week’s Learning Resources.
Locate and select an organization where change is currently taking place (or is scheduled to take place).
Analyze the organization to develop a change management proposal.
Note: This Assignment will be graded using this rubric: Week 11 Assignment Rubric (Word document)
The Assignment
In a 7- to 10-page proposal, address the following:
Describe the specific organization including size, mission, and location. Describe the change that is taking place (or is scheduled to take place) in the organization.
Analyze what is driving the change to take place.
Given the parameters of the change, summarize the resistance or conflict you might expect and why.
Evaluate change management theories and models and select one to apply to the change occurring in the organization. Support why you selected this theory or model.
Apply systems thinking to address the impact of the change throughout the organization.
Recommend strategies and innovations that could be implemented to effect the organizational change and provide rationale for the recommendations.
Explain the role that communication will play in your plan. Analyze how communication could be used to handle concerns and doubts of stakeholders.
Recommend strategies you will use to motivate stakeholders and prepare them to accept, embrace, and sustain the change. Categorize key groups that you anticipate will require targeted motivation strategies.
Recommend training and support required for the successful implementation of the organizational change.
Recommend strategies for sustaining an organizational change.
Explain how stakeholders are involved in and held accountable for the organizational change.
Recommend ways to measure the success of the organizational change and when transformational change has occurred.
Note: The change management proposal should be 7–10 pages, not including the title and reference pages. Include graphs or charts and a 1-page executive summary. Your Assignment must be written in standard edited English. Be sure to support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and at least three additional scholarly sources. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct. See the rubric for additional requirements related to research and scholarly writing.
Your Assignment is due by Day 7.
Congratulations! After you have finished all of the assignments for this week, you have completed

Instructions: This week you are to write a research paper

Instructions: This week you are to write a research paper comparing and contrasting the pedagogical and andragogicalapproaches to instruction and learning. Suppose the senior supervisor or manager of your organization asks you to design a program to increase employee awareness of sexual harassment and train your workers in the appropriate ways to deal with harassment complaints. Which principles (from either approach) do you feel might be useful? Support your choices.

IMPORTANT!!
Submit your work as an MS WORD ATTACHMENT in either a .doc, .docx, or .rtf format.

Please support your ideas, arguments, and opinions with independent research, include at least three (3) supporting references or sources (NOT Wikipedia, unknown, or anonymous sources), format your work in proper APA format, include a cover page, abstract, minimum of 3 FULL pages of written content, double space all work, include a reference section, and cite all listed references properly in text in accordance with the 6th edition of the APA manual, chapters 6 & 7.

LATE POLICY: Students are expected to submit classroom assignments by the posted due date and to complete the course according to the published class schedule. The due date for each assignment is listed under each Assignment. As adults, students, and working professionals, I understand you must manage competing demands on your time. We all know that “life happens” but it is important to adhere as closely to the deadlines in the class as possible.
Should you need additional time to complete an assignment, please contact me before the due date so we can discuss the situation and determine an acceptable resolution. If arrangements are not made in advance, a late penalty of 10% will be assessed for any assignment submitted 1-7 days past the due date. Assignments will not be accepted after the 7th day. No work will be accepted past the final day of class.

Create 3 fictional scenarios

Create 3 fictional scenarios in which an employer would have to deal with any of the following situations of employee poor behavior on the job, Substance Abuse, Sexual Harassment, Fighting, Work Family Conflicts, or Email (or Internet) abuse.
For each case, provide details of the type of employer, the history or the worker at that company, the incident which arose, why it was a clear violation of employer policy, what would be the likely result of arbitration of this issue if the employee acknowledged his wrong doing but asked to keep his job.

Explain the reasoning for your considered outcome. Remember, this is fictional. Create a believable situation, but know that you can have whatever outcome you choose! You may not work in conjunction with any other student to complete this paper.

Any papers/assignments should at a minimum contain 3-5 pages of content (double spaced), include a properly formatted cover page, and a reference listing page with at least three (3) NEW references properly listed at the end of your work. Providing additional references to your assignments demonstrate your desire to conduct additional research on the topic area and can improve your research skills. With all assignments, include properly formatted in-text citations within the body of your work for each of your listed references so the reader can ascertain what is your original thought or ideas and what portion of your work is taken from credible sources to support your work. It is really important to identify work from other sources to ensure that proper credit is provided to researchers in the field

For this assignment, imagine that a manager that you have worked closely with before

For this assignment, imagine that a manager that you have worked closely with before (perhaps one that you wrote about in your Module 1–3 SLPs) has to relocate to Korea or France. Do some research about the cultures in Korea and France and carefully review the background readings include Sadri (2013) and Hopkins (2009). Geert Hofstede has a webpage with ratings on cultural dimensions such as individualism and power distance that is also a good source of information.
After doing some research about national culture in Korea and France and reviewing the readings from Sadri (2013) and Hopkins (2009), write a 2- to 3-page paper addressing the following four questions. Make sure to cite at least one of the required background readings in each of your four answers:
How would this manager have to change their leadership style if they relocated to Korea?
How would this manager have to change their negotiation or conflict management style if they relocated to Korea?
How would this manager have to change their leadership style if they relocated to France?
How would this manager have to change their negotiation or conflict management style if they relocated to France?
For each of your answers, make sure to include a discussion of power distance, individualism/collectivism, and any other cultural dimension that you find relevant. Also, make sure to cite the concepts from Sadri (2013) and Hopkins (2009) to support your answers.

For the Module 3 SLP you will be applying the concepts you learned

For the Module 3 SLP you will be applying the concepts you learned in the background materials regarding conflict and negotiation to a situation from your own personal experiences. Carefully review the background materials regarding types of conflict, causes of conflict, negotiation stages, and conflict management styles. It is important to first understand these comments from the background readings before starting this assignment.
Once you have thoroughly reviewed the background materials, think of a situation in the workplace where a conflict erupted and management had to intervene and some type of negotiation was involved. Then write a three page paper addressing the following four questions, and make sure to cite at least one of the required background readings for each of your four answers :
1. Was this conflict functional or dysfunctional?
2. What was the cause of the conflict? Use the terms from the background materials in your answer – e.g. was the conflict a result of interpersonal issues, a specific task involved, due to inter-organizational issues, etc.
3. Of the five approaches to conflict management outlined in Chapter 1 of Raines (2013) which approach was used by management to resolve this conflict?
4.Did the negotiations involve integrative or distributive bargaining? What stages of negotiation did management go through, and did these stages match the four stages discussed in Sims (2002) or the five stages discussed in the Pearson interactive tutorial?
Background reading
Conflict and negotiation. (2014). Pearson Learning Solutions. New York, NY.
The following two readings are especially important for the Case Assignment so go through these chapters carefully:
Sims, R. (2002). Chapter 10 Conflict and negotiation at work. Managing Organizational Behavior. Greenwood Press Westport, CT [Ebrary] Kumar, N. (2009). Chapter 18: Conflict. Organizational Behaviour: A New Look: Concept, Theory and Cases. Himalaya Publishing House, Mumbai [2009]

Problem 1. A project in its 26th week has an actual cost of $157,000.

Problem 1. A project in its 26th week has an actual cost of $157,000. It was scheduled to have spent $149,000. For the work performed to date, the budgeted value is $172,000. What are the cost and schedule variances for the project? What are the SPI and CPI?
Problem 2. A project has just completed its 87th item in the project plan. It was scheduled to have spent $298,000 at this point in the plan, but has actually spent only $266,000. The project manager estimates that the value of the work actually finished is nearly $282,000. What are the spending and schedule variances for the project? What are the SPI and CPI?
Problem 3. The following project is at the end of its 6th week. Find the cost and schedule variances. Also find the CPI and SPI. Then find the critical ratio of the project using earned value calculations. Finally, calculate the ETC and EAC for the project.

Problem 4. Solve the following Case:
Stoneworth Paving Company specializes in highway paving jobs for state of Virginia. When the State first awarded Stoneworth the contract, they stipulated a 1% penalty for each week Stoneworth was late on a completion date. Preston Flintrock, the project coordinator for Stoneworth, began to notice that the last two jobs were three weeks late, and the paving job that was due to be completed in the next two weeks was behind schedule. When Preston went in the field to investigate, he found the job to be understaffed, supplier delays, and a high work rejection/repaving needed. As a result, Preston decided to establish a better system of project control and present it to the boss.
Question 1: If you were Preston, what characteristics would you be looking for in a new control system? Explain
Question 2: Will a new control system be adequate for the problem? Explain

For this assignment, make sure to first carefully

For this assignment, make sure to first carefully review the background materials regarding the causes of political behavior, types of political behavior, and the ethics of political behavior. Examples of the causes of political behavior include competition for resources, ambiguous organizational goals, lack of trust, and performance factors. Examples of types of political behavior include blaming others, selectively distributing information, managing impressions, and forming coalitions. Regarding ethics, consider the three main factors:
Does the political action violate individual rights?
Does it improve the welfare of those involved?
Does it increase distributive justice?
Review the background materials and do some research on the political dramas at HP. There is a lot written about HP’s many dramas over the years; here are some articles to get you started:
Veverka, M. (2011). The soap opera at HP continues. Barron’s, 91(39), 25.
Granelli, J. S. (2006, Sep 20). Lockyer probe of HP spying reaches to ’05; sources say the inquiry goes back to the ouster of CEO Carly Fiorina, a possible victim. Los Angeles Times [ProQuest] Kessler, M. (2006, Sep 08). Controversial HP probe started under Fiorina; stock falls as board continues public feud. USA Today [ProQuest] Pearlstein, S. (2011, Sep 25). How HP, silicon valley’s darling, became a soap opera. The Washington Post
Once you have finished reviewing the background materials and have completed your research on HP’s internal politics, write a 4- to 5-page paper addressing the following issues:
What individual and organizational factors of HP and its senior leaders led to the intense political behavior? Refer to the background readings in your answer, and in particular, pages 370–372 of the Nair textbook in your answer.
What types of political behaviors did HP’s board members and CEOs exhibit? Be specific and use the types of political behaviors discussed by Nair (2010) and Aswathappa (2010).
Were the leaks to the press by members of the board ethical? Was the investigation by Patricia Dunn into the links ethical? Consider the factors of utility, individual rights, and distributive justice discussed by Nair (2010) and Aswathappa (2010) in your answer.

Building Your Company’s Vision Harvard Business Review James C. Collins and Jerry I

Building Your Company’s Vision Harvard Business Review James C. Collins and Jerry I. Porras September-October 1996 An Overview The companies that enjoy enduring success have core values and a core purpose that remain fixed, while their business strategies and practices endlessly adapt to a changing world. Examples include Hewlett-Packard, 3M, Johnson & Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, Merck, Sony, Motorola, and Nordstrom. Truly great companies understand the difference between what should never change and what should be open to change, between what is genuinely sacred and what is not. This rare ability to manage continuity and change is closely linked to the ability to develop a vision. A well-conceived vision consists of two major components: core ideology and envisioned future. The core ideology is unchanging while the envisioned future is what we aspire to become, to achieve, to create. The core ideology consists of the core values and core purpose. Core values are the essential and enduring tenants of an organization, a small set of timeless guiding principles that require no external justification. To identify the core values of your own organization, push with relentless honesty to define what values are truly central. If you articulate more than five or six, chances are you are confusing core values (which do not change) with operating practice, business strategies, or cultural norms (which should be open to change). Upon evaluation, if circumstances changed and penalized us for holding a core value, would we still keep it? If we can’t honestly answer yes, then the value is not core and should be dropped from consideration. The core purpose is the organization’s reason for being — not to be confused with a goal or strategy. It is the idealistic motivation for doing the company’s work. (This can only be reached by asking “why”.) Core ideology needs to be meaningful and inspirational only to people inside the organization; it need not be exciting to others. It is the people within the corporation who need to commit to the organizational ideology over the long term. Core ideology can also play a role in determining who is inside the organization and who is not. You cannot impose new core values or purposes on people; they have to be predisposed to share your core values and purpose, or let them go elsewhere. Core competencies should be well-aligned with a company’s core ideology and are often rooted it in; but they are not the same thing. Core competence is a strategic concept that defines your organization’s capabilities — what you are particularly good at– whereas core ideology captures what you stand for and why you exist. The envisioned future consists of two parts: a 10 to 30 year audacious goal plus vivid descriptions of what it will be like to achieve the goal.
