Mitosis is the division of cells and the understanding of
mitosis is critical for the investigation and understanding of cancer as a
disease.
Each phase of division has a specific purpose. In this
activity you will investigate each of the phases of mitosis and the cell cycle
and then
summarize your findings.
Part 1
Go to The
Biology Project: Cell Biology, Onion Root Tips
Read
the background material and give a summary (don’t copy) of the
phases detailed.
Explain
what type of cells you will be looking at and where the cells came from.
Copy
the chart. Follow the directions in the activity. You will need to
hand in your chart
and answers to the questions
embedded in the activity.
Describe
how a cell looks in each phase of mitosis and what would happen if there
were a malfunction in that phase.
Part 2
Launch the interactive at this website https://www.biointeractive.org/classroom-resources/eukaryotic-cell-cycle-and-cancer
and complete the attached document.
Upload a document with Part 1 and and the completed attached
pdf.
