Lewngth:  2-3 pages Format:  MLA style for citations, 12-pt Times New Roman or 11-pt Calibri font, double spaced, 1” margins, name and date, paginated, doc/.docx/.rtf file type   Task You will develop the following sections in paragraph form and an annotated bibliography of sources. All of the work you do here can be directly used (with appropriate revision) in your final paper. The more you develop here, the less you’ll have to do later. Write your Problem Statement following the format below. Use the headings in bold in your own paper. 1 Brief Statement of Problem – In one sentence, describe a problem that is narrowly tailored to a local issue or organization. This is a problem that you can solve by getting your audience to fund your project or take some specific action, such as enacting a policy or regulation. 2 Audience – Name your audience. Your audience is the person or small group of people who can help you bring about the change you would like to effect. For example, you might ask UF Student Government to provide funds for an educational campaign or you might ask the Gainesville City Commission to enact a regulation. Your audience is NOT the general population, nor is it everyone in a special interest group. 3 Prior Solutions – In paragraph form (2-3 paragraphs), describe what solutions have already been suggested or implemented and why your solution is the better option. 4 Detailed Statement of Problem – Write several paragraphs that present the problem in detail, including any background information and research the reader needs to understand the context, and explain why it needs to be solved. Cite sources according to in-text MLA citation style. 5 Annotated Bibliography of Sources for Defining Problem, Finding Solutions, or Providing Context – List three possible sources as you would for a reference page in MLA style (including alphabetical order!). Beneath each source, you will include the following information about the source: ◦ A 3-5 sentence summary of the source ◦ What information in this source supports your argument? (Does it help you define the problem? Or offer possibilities for solving the problem? Or contribute to understanding the context?) ◦ Justification for this source as “authoritative” and credible for your purposes and to your audience
