Abjection is the feeling of disgust, which is what some may feel when seeing abject art. It is an art that would show a decayed, flawed, or imperfect human body. Common flaws that were shown in the art were wounds, illness, bodily fluids, or even death. It has people see and forces them to acknowledge that the human body is not perfect. In abject art, it is hard to tell what is part of the body or what is outside it. The art purposely goes beyond the normal boundaries that most people are used to. It is meant to make people see art that is outside their comfort zone, things that they may ignore because they consider those imperfections to be a bad thing. If I am being honest, abject art does make me uncomfortable and I would not choose to search for that type of art. However, that is the point of the art. If it did not make some people feel that way than it fails to send its message. Its message being that the ugly parts of life are here, whether someone would choose to accept that or not. I would prefer not to have to see these images ever again because of past experiences this is not something I will be expanding on.
