This assignment has two parts. First, you must explain the social value of media research. Second, you must choose a topic that you would like to research in the future, that demonstrates the social value of media research, as you have explained that value in the previous step. You are encouraged to develop ideas and examples that you have used in your previous assignments.
1. Explain the social value of media research. You may reference ideas of culture, power, social integration and/or social change.
2. Select a topic that you would like to research. Argue why your case study is socially relevant; what that means is, how would society benefit from knowing more about your example. (NB THIS PART OF THE QUESTION ASKS YOU TO EXPLAIN HOW YOUR RESEARCH BENEFITS SOCIETY-YOU ARE *NOT* TO WRITE ABOUT HOW MEDIA RESEARCH CAN HELP BUSINESSES UNDERSTAND THEIR CUSTOMERS, OR SELL THEIR PRODUCTS/SERVICES.
