(c) Explain how indeterminate prison sentences, in contrast, are consistent with a Due Process Model of criminal justice administration.
Question 2 (Approx 1/2 a page)
Consider the following statement:
I keep hearing the same lame excuses about why people commit crime— living in a bad neighborhood, suffering abuse as children, losing a job. I’m sick of it! The bottom-line is that people commit crime because they think they’ll get away with it. Picking up trash for hours on the side of the road in the hot sun teaches criminals a valuable lesson— they will get caught and they will be punished. Nobody who has ever spent time doing that would want to repeat the experience!
The above statement best matches which of the four purposes of punishment discussed in Part 1 of the lecture for Week 3? Be sure to provide an explanation.
