Think about the arguments the Supreme Court made with regards to free speech and free press in the two cases presented.  Consider Sunstein’s arguments that freedoms of speech and press have fundamentally changed in the Internet age, where people keep themselves in information silos and there is an overabundance of misinformation, disinformation, and like-minded information. The courts have been reluctant to limit speech/press on the Internet based on precedent and democratic norms.  Does the same logic applied in Brandenburg v Ohio and NYT v. US apply to the Internet? Why or why not?
Congress has been at 20% approval or below for the past several years. Smith describes several issues that may lead to a decline in trust.  Of the issues Smith raises, what do you think upsets people the most about Congress and why?  Binder describes polarization in detail. Does it really just boil down to party politics? If it was only party polarization, would we expect approval to be higher, say 38-40%?
